BTC Land guide

Guides

Explore how BTC amounts translate into an illustrative share of Earth's surface.

1. Choose an amount and unit

Enter a BTC amount, a satoshi amount, or an area. The calculator converts between BTC, sats, square metres, ares, hectares, and square kilometres.

Use a preset for a quick example, or enter a country name to use its listed surface area as the calculator input.

2. Select a supply model

Max supply uses Bitcoin's 21,000,000 BTC maximum. Adjusted supplyuses 17,300,000 BTC, based on an illustrative estimate that 3,700,000 BTC are lost. That lost-BTC figure is an assumption in this calculator, not an exact or universally agreed count.

3. Understand the area model

The calculator divides Earth's total surface area, 510,072,000 km², by the selected supply model. It then scales that area by the BTC amount. In the max-supply model, one BTC corresponds to about 24.29 km² in this illustration.

Area equivalentBTC amount × Earth's surface area ÷ selected BTC supply

This is a mathematical comparison, not a claim about land ownership, allocation, or the amount of usable land. The denominator includes Earth's oceans as well as land.

4. Explore the map

  • Choose a continent to change the map view.
  • Click the map to move the reference point; drag to pan and scroll to zoom.
  • Select a country to compare its listed area with the current BTC supply model.

Map panning and zooming change only the view. They do not change the conversion denominator.

5. Share a calculation

Select Copy URL to copy the current view. The URL includes the calculator and map settings so another person can open the same example.
