Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

A little context for interpreting the BTC-to-area comparison.

Does one BTC buy or own this area of land?

No. The app compares a BTC amount with a fraction of Earth’s total surface area. It does not represent a land purchase, ownership right, or allocation of territory.

What is the adjusted supply?

It is an optional illustrative model using 17.3 million BTC, based on an estimate of 3.7 million lost BTC. Lost coins cannot be counted exactly, so this is an assumption, not a protocol-defined supply figure.

Why does the map show a square?

The square is a visual footprint with an area matching the calculator result. Its shape and placement are illustrative and are projected onto the selected map view.

Does zooming or panning change the calculation?

No. Zooming and panning only change the map view. Selecting a continent also changes the view, not the global surface-area denominator.

Why does selecting a country change the amount?

Selecting a country sets the calculator to that country’s listed surface area in square kilometres, then calculates its BTC equivalent using the chosen supply model.

What happens when I copy a URL?

The current calculator and map settings are encoded in the URL and copied to your clipboard only after you press “Copy URL”. Anyone with the link can see those settings.

Is this financial or geographic advice?

No. Results are a simplified educational visualization. They are not investment advice, a land survey, or a measurement of usable or privately owned land.
